A lot of folk use the great AVG Free program. This is a trusted free option for home use. Recently the Microsoft security essentials package has been launched. Like AVG this is free and lightweight. It it is worth considering if you want to uninstall AVG.
Microsoft have also update their Defender product. Combined with Microsoft security essentials it makes a credible alternative to AVG Free.
