RP OpenElec http://openelec.tv/

This is a distribution (Linux) with Kodi build in, it also has navtive suport for PVR capabilities. Enable, setup TVHeadend and you are done!

RP TV Headend Server  https://tvheadend.org/

This is the server process that is run on a device with a turner. Use the web interface for TVHE Server to setup the channels etc.

RP TV Headend Client https://tvheadend.org/

This is the client process that is run on a device for playback.

PC WinSCP https://winscp.net/eng/index.php

Used to connect from a PC to the RP to copy files around using a nice GUI. You can also use SMB to share files over "Windows style" shares.

Linux (OpenElec)

OpenElec come with Linux so the full power of a desktop PCis on tap., scheduling jobs etc. I used Cron to turn off the HDMI for 6 mins to force the TV off each morning, and start streaming the news each morning.
